daverain14 A band that keeps on evolving. This one is their best one yet! Excited for more! A must for fans of post-metal, sludge and jazz. Favorite track: Ember Motion.

Dan Curhan Immediately careening directly into my alley, this is moody, atmospheric, psychedelic post-black metal full of saxophone, doomy noir jazz ambience, and huge, satisfying dynamics. It's mostly on the mellower side, but the moments of peak intensity are quite rewarding. Something in these dismal, dingy, smoky, sax-laden atmospheres draws me in, holds me close, and tells me that everything's going to be okay.

Theophrastus Bombastus Wholly original. Moving, mysterious, punishing yet delicate. Névoa explore new places here and I hope other bands follow. Favorite track: With Devotional Pace.

about

"Never ones to be content with what they have achieved, or to settle within an easily identifiable style bracket, Névoa blew their output (and our minds!) wide open with 2016's 'Re Un', a record they define as the true beginning of their evolution, which saw them depart towards pastures unknown, embracing only the unpredictable direction of their own inspirations. Sounding very much like Névoa and no one else, it took them to places such as the prestigious Le Guess Who? festival in the Netherlands, clearly signaling their arrival on a larger and much more open kind of scene.

With a digital-only song called 'Pale and Frail, He Stands' as a stopgap to bridge this first part of this existence and the luminous future which awaits them, Névoa now resurface entirely unbound by any creative shackles that might have remained. Their new opus 'Towards Belief' is in itself a testament to freedom and to an unrestrained will to move forward. Gathering strands of jazz, folk and world music, all while keeping that core flame of intensity and sober, elegant darkness that identifies each note as unmistakably Névoa's, it's not so much a new beginning as yet another reinvention, something the duo has shown they are clearly capable of pulling off at each turn."
